How Long Have you Been in Business?

The family-owned business was established as Bartholomew Drilling in 1954. We added Northwest Hydro-Fracturing in 1986 to service our customers with low-producing wells. The companies were purchased by Northwest Water Wells Inc in 2016.

How Long Will Hydro-Fracturing Last?

With no adverse natural effects such as earthquake, cave-in, flood, etc., the life expectancy of hydro-fracturing would be the same as the life of a standard well.

Do you use a Single Packer or Double Packer System?

We use the double packer method. When you use only one packer, you have approximately a 60% chance of increase compared to a 96% chance of increase with a double packer.

What Area Do You Service?
Washington and Idaho.
Can the Process Cause Me to Lose the Water I Have Now?
No. To our knowledge this has never happened to any well that we have fractured.
Can This Be Done If I Have a Hand Dug Well?
No.

My Well is Drilled Into Sand, Gravel and Clay. Can This Process Help?

No. The process is only for wells drilled into some kind of rock formation such as quartz, granite, shale, basalt, sandstone, etc.
How Long Does the Process Take?
In most cases fracturing can be completed in one day.
Why Do You Chlorinate the Well?
Because we have the well open and are putting equipment into it. It is exposed to possible bacterial contamination just as if you were pulling and replacing the pump. We chlorinate as a precaution.
What Kind of Water Do You Use?
Only potable water.
How Long Do You Wait For the Post-Frac Pump Test?
Usually a week to 10 days or immediately if the amount of water used in the process can be pumped out and the recovery measured thereafter.
How Much Can I Expect My Well to Improve?
There is no specific amount regarding exact increase, however, our overall average increase is 574%.
How Do You Determine if My Well is a Good Candidate for Hydro-fracturing?
You need to provide us with a well report or drilling log on the well and legal description of the property that the well is located on. We compile available facts and data along with our professional opinion of what can be done to rehabilitate the well in question. This allows you to make as intelligent a decision as possible regarding what course of action to take with your well. We also use a down-the-hole camera to video each well before we actually do the hydro-fracturing.
Why Shouldn't I just Drill Deeper?
Because in many cases the deeper you drill the tighter the rock formation becomes with less natural water bearing fractures.
Why Shouldn't I Drill Another Well?
Chances are that you would simply end up with two wells that do not have enough output to meet your needs. Keep in mind you are just drilling another hole into a low yield formation with little chance of success. Remember, when you drill you are relying on one hole - with the hydro-fracturing process you are essentially creating many holes horizontally interconnecting in the water table.
Do You Dynamite Wells?
No. The success rate is about 50% and even then the amount of increase is limited. Cave in usually occurs as a result and a drill rig would need to be brought in to clean the well out.
When or How Do We Pay For This?
We ask for a down payment of 50% of the estimated cost to be in our office before scheduling. The balance will be due at the job site on completion of hydro-fracturing.
